Shire of Esperance Solar and Storage

The Shire of Esperance wanted to reduce their electricity costs by installing a solar PV system on their administration facility. This aim is in line with the Shire’s sustainability plan to reduce its carbon footprint and preserve assets for future generations. The project was funded by a grant secured by the Goldfields Voluntary Regional Organisation of Councils (GVROC).

Balance Solution

Balance Solution

Balance was selected through a competitive tender process to supply the PV System based on our demonstrated capability and experience to meet Horizon Power’s connection requirements and deliver projects in regional areas. We selected a local contracting partner to perform the site works in line with the Shire’s “Buy Local” preference and reduce project travel costs.

The solar system had to comply with Horizon Power’s Generation Management standard for connection of PV Systems. Balance developed a solution with an overseas inverter manufacturer to deliver a system that satisfied both customer and Horizon Power requirements in order to achieve the Shire’s desired outcome.

Results

Results

A reduction in grid-based electricity supplied to the administration office was proven following the analysis of 12 months of power production data. This was also reflected when reviewing the Shire’s utility bills that had been reduced by up to 8,000kWh per month.
